Bruce Melizan to Leave Interserve
Interserve has announced the departure of Bruce Melizan, the long-serving Managing Director of its Support Services division.
A casualty of the 'Fit for Growth' restructuring programme introduced by the FTSE 250 outsourcer in October on the back of steep share price falls and losses from a disastrous foray into the UK's energy-from-waste market, Bruce held senior roles at Interserve and at Amey plc (where he was Managing Director), prior to his appointment in 2006.
Bruce's impeccable academic credentials stood him out in an industry that is widely perceived as suffering from a deficit of executive talent. An engineering graduate from Queen's University at Kingston, he holds an MBA from Cranfield School of Management, and is also a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
Commenting on the announcement, Glyn Barker, Interserve Chairman, said:
"I would like to thank Bruce for his significant contribution to Interserve over the last 14 years. Bruce's capability in developing strong customer relationships, leading key acquisitions, driving organisational change and focusing a 50,000-strong workforce on operational excellence have helped to shape today's organisation. We wish him well in the next phase of his career."
