Pexhurst Contracts Manager Announced as CIOB Construction Manager of the Year Awards Finalist

Rob Brazier, a senior commercial and contracts manager with UK fit-out and refurbishment contractor Pexhurst, has been announced as a finalist in the Construction Manager of the Year (CMOY) category of this year's Chartered Institute of Building Awards for his contribution to a contract for CBRE Investment Management which involved working alongside property consultants Vail Williams as contract administration and project manager.

The primary objective of the sustainable refurbishment of the 45,934 sq. ft. warehousing, office space and external hardstanding area in Woolborough Lane, Crawley, was to raise the warehouse's clear height by 2.5 metres. with achieving a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating by reusing the building’s original structure and sourcing sustainable materials also specified as an objective by the client.

As the Senior Contracts and Commercial Manager, Brazier was responsible for both the production and the financial aspects of this substantial project.

He also led the design coordination between trade packages, which in this instance involved steelwork, roofing, cladding, mechanical and electrical installation.

Carrying out an extensive build programme during the Covid-19 pandemic, while attempting to achieve a high BREEAM rating is testimony to his knowledge of the industry and commercial competence.

Brazier says: “Being named a finalist of the CYMA is a truly amazing achievement; I’m proud just to be considered for such a prominent industry award.

I’m also honoured to now be able to receive my CIOB Chartered Membership, which is the next milestone in creating future buildings that create positive impacts.

“I would also like to recognise the hard work of the wider team including Project Director, Martin Vella, and the delivery team, without whom this programme would not have been a success.”

As CMYA Finalists, Pexhurst will be attending the 2022 CIOB Awards on Wednesday 28th September 2022 at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
